Feedback ยท Notifications at the bottom of the page (accepted)

The new Toasts are great, but if say you're using another program in full screen and tab back to lit, you can't really tell if you heard the ping for the chat or from a toast in another tab. To check, you need to scroll all the way to the top of the page. I think it'd be super convenient to have an icon at the bottom of the page that would tell you how many unread notifications you had. Something like this.

Clicking on it would then open a new tab for that notification, or take you to the Inbox if there are multiple pages with notifications.

This is probably a second-pass level of development for this feature.

Though, I'm obviously not going to steal the mail icon from iOS to do it.

Isn't this mostly mitigated or completely solved by having the indicators in the tabs? Plus I'm not sure what you see when you scroll up to the top. Until a page is refreshed you wouldn't see an Inbox indication in the header, right?
It would be nice to get a pushed indicator at the bottom next to your avatar icon for when there is an Inbox update. Right now that shows on one specific tab that feels kind of random. You see the one indicator, and then check for activity, and see nothing, and then realize it is an Inbox update. So maybe, you get a blue indicator instead of a red for Inbox updates, and/or you get the notification indicator down at the bottom.

I believe this is moving some of functionality of the inbox to the tab which gets the notification. So if you get multiple updates (and missed any of them) you'll be able to go right to them by this functionality instead of loading up your inbox and going from there.

Just to lay out the case for some changes:
So, like when I got the notification for your post above, it is an Inbox notification, of course. I got the red indicator on the tab I have open for a chat, even though I have a tab open on the Inbox, and my initial assumption was that it was a chat post. Maybe that is the oldest Lit tab, so it goes to that one? Anyway, I initially thought, cool, someone posted in that chat... but no, no new post there. I think that tab did have the Inbox link in the header highlighted at that point, but it didn't matter because by then I knew it had to be an Inbox update anyway, so I didn't bother scrolling up. I switched to the tab that already has the Inbox open, and I needed to refresh that tab to get the page to show the new notification.

What I'm reading in the OP suggestion is the addition of an icon at the bottom of a page with a pushed status that will either open a new tab on the page in question, i.e., this page in the case above (or some PM, etc.), OR if it is indicating multiple notifications as in the mock-up image in the OP, then it opens a new tab of your inbox page.

This would be lovely, since I'm looking near there most of the time anyway
