Split Description to traits, interests, etc. (implemented)
master of 2 children
Right now, the description sits at the bottom of the profile and holds all of the remaining context of the profile.
I suggest this description box be split up and moved. There would be one that sits in both traits and interests, so they would be up higher, and help you to describe everything about your traits and your interests. This would be a place to cover anything you can't get with the site's systems or emphasize anything you want to, and would be able to summarize what your traits or interests are about. Additionally, these would go away when you collapse those parts of the profile.
There might be another description box at the bottom for your backstory, or maybe one in your roleplay ideas, not sure.
This would hopefully make longer descriptions more manageable by isolating and focusing them to the specific areas of the profile, while encourage a bit more reading of them without making anything else about the profile under-emphasized.

I'd be in favour of something like this. Something higher up to give a better 'quick overview' of someone's likes/what they focus on/etc, with the lower description being for backstory and/or personality.
This sounds good. If I remember correctly, the logic of keeping the description at the end was because a lot of people do read it last - but there are things people put in a description that do make sense being extracted and put first, like notes they'd like readers to bear in mind.
It would be appropriate to put a modest character limit (e.g. 2–3,000 characters) on the top description(s?), to make putting anything extremely long there outright impossible and emphasize it is totally not for the long-winded backstory. For comparison, the feature request's description at the moment is about 950 characters.
Oooh, I like the idea of putting a good limit on them too. That would definitely prevent someone from spamming with some James Joyce stuff or something.
The second I get some points back I'm probably dumping them into this; it's something I realized I really needed.
I like to make body descriptions, and talk about interests, so making boxes for these in the respective sections is a good idea.
I noticed we don't have anything for how a person's face looks in Traits. Lip shape, pretty/plain/beautiful, eye-color, hair-color, and so on. There's plenty of details I would add in a Trait text box.
I would also favor (in-addition or instead of a Trait Description box) a small description box with each sub-category of Traits. Even small ones would be useful. So for example, under Body Modification, there would be a small field that would be visible if someone put in descriptive text to describe their actual body modifications.
P. S. The Trait Sub-category (groupings) Descriptions boxes would basically be summaries of the traits within the sub-grouping, and amplification on those trait details. For example, a listing of actual piercings and tattoos, and or a description of a special tattoo. This would make descriptive reply to an RP much faster and easier!
Description boxes for categories is an interesting idea, but I think for this initial version we should just split it up into those basic areas and see how it works for everyone. If we continue to see the need and value in even more granular boxes, we certainly can do that.
