This seems like it would be covered by setting a preference for magical users.

Still think this is too close to a preference. Thoughts?

Would work fine either way. Interest in magic users, but not shut down magic users from people who don't want to include it. Like.. who says a sorceress can't be in roleplay where no magic is used at all? You could even be a magic user who prefers not to use magic in roleplay, maybe they're one of those ethical types who believe power corrupts and thus refrain from it as much as possible. And just because character has no magical powers, doesn't rule out magic use via magical items, "NPCs", or such.

This may be worth revisiting now that we've had a couple of dozen interests added to the system describing specific forms of magic use. (Here's the recent interests list.)

This wouldn't be a preference because there can be Magic Use without Magic Users. LIke if the character find a magic wishing ring, or a magic wand, or a magic coin, or a magic any number of other things.

You're not alone in thinking that. Some are totally unnecessary.

The difference is, that I could be the one using magic in a RP, this doesn't require that the other char is a magic user. Under certain circumstances, if I want to seduce a human with my magical abilities, I might prefer a non-magical character as victim. Or I simply don't care.
