Seperate tabs, in one browser page, for multiple chats/PM/RP (closed)
This would be a nice feature for organization and general ease of use. When you end up with 20+ browser tabs open at a time IT is exceedingly hard to keep track of them all. The notification system, as it stands now, is not effective enough to properly manage these multiple windows.
I would suggest having multiple chat/RP/PM tabs, and have their respective 'window' flash when a new post is added.
While I can see how 'just open another browser tab' seems like a solution here. This is not effective because of how difficult it is to keep track of 10+ browser tabs. If the inbox/notifications were more streamlined and reliable this MIGHT be ok.. . . But myself and many others would love to see an 'in house' tab feature

I think that having native vertical tabs like slimcat would be nice, but I think it'd also be a ton of work, maybe to the point that the site would just need to be rebuilt. It might be easier if someone built a browser client specifically for navigating litphoria. Either way, I think that improving the notification system will make things easier with the least amount of effort.
Griz, the plan from the get-go was always to have a very functional base with which more features could be sprinkled on. I never really wanted tabs (since they are session-based and absolutely nothing the site is), but I did have long-standing ideas about having the primary navigations at the top "unfold" to more options, i.e a list of your characters, recent PMs, recent chats, etc, and you could click links from there to navigate to that item (without the browser doing a hard load). Sort of like how things like the character selector work, only imagine it had your recent PMs and such, and clicking on them didn't refresh the page.
So we shouldn't worry about implementation cost here.
I recently posted on the Main channel about 4 different clunky things about using browser tabs, but I didn't save that anywhere, and I'm not going to retype it here. A fifth one I thought of that is 'irritating' about the site might be fixed just by going to tabbed RP due to the fact that you would have a site header that doesn't scroll up. The fact that it does scroll up is extremely irritating on a sight with very, very long pages by design, but also a sight that navigates from and displays notification info in the header. But of course, that can be fixed as a separate issue.
AND, it's certainly possible that the other things that make me want a site with tabs on one page can be addressed with new features.
One of several reasons I would endorse this tabbed RP idea with points is that browser tabs feels really awkward now, along with bugginess in chrome notifications (someone posted a feedback on that very recently), and one primary reason for my feeling is that the site header scrolls up and away. If the header behaved like twitter.com or this site, then it could host notification indicators there, cut out scrolling issues (another recent feedback), and be an unfolding control center WA mentions above.
In short, there are possible innovations that may address all the things I like tabs in pages for. runs off to make a feedback
