There are often qualifiers to species that don't need to be listed as separate species (demon horse, black woman, ghost tiger, ect.) and don't really fit anywhere else. Is this a trait worth having and how should it be framed to make sure categories are understandable and useful?

Within the context of demon, angel, ghost etc, I think Descent makes for a good name, but Race doesn't. (Being a ghost is, usually, not a race.)
This same thing should not be conflated with human race/ethnicity, as in your example of a black woman. That's another bag. You can be any of the above, and any ethnicity. Being black is not mutually exclusive from being an angel or a demon. Currently we haven't gone into ethnicities - nobody has thought it necessary to go into yet.
Also yes, having Descent for a trait dealing with spirits, demons, etc sounds useful. I also get the feeling it might break down on us in the long term but for now we should experiment with it and see if and why it might break down.
I have moved this into needs discussion
as the suggestion body is more of a question.
I still don't know what name we're going to apply to this. Traditionally things like vampirism
and lyncanthropy
are diseases or curses, not really a "race" or a "descent" or any other label we could about apply to it. That's why we have them in supernatural abilities
.
Supernatural nature maybe? Actually if we go with that, that can just be a rename of supernatural abilities. Your nature is that of being a deity or an angel or a spirit or so on, with the fact of whether you have powers being unimportant or secondary or obvious from your nature.
Supernatural nature
works for me, and covers all of the stuff like ghost
, vampirism
, etc.
Supernatural abilities
was renamed to supernatural nature
. Closing.
