Under 'profiles' and 'roleplay' sections, there should be a section where a few profiles/roleplays are automatically put up as "Best Matched" based on your active character's interests/traits.

I am not opposed to a "best match" or matchmaking in general, but I do not agree with the presentation of this suggestion. I would most likely place it somewhere on profiles.

Profiles section, that is. Though placing it on your own profile view might be a good place, too...

Placing it in the profiles makes more sense because that is where you go to browse profiles. Same as suggested roleplays should be on roleplay page, because if you are there, you probably are searching for some anyway - putting it on own profile is counter-intuitive, and we don't want that.

Actually yes, a list of potentially fitting characters in the profiles section, and one for role plays that might interest you both sound appealing. I think the news and feed back on the front page is important, but such a list on the more fitting pages might work well.

This suggestion has moved the presentation to the appropriate areas so I have unblocked it and opened it to endorsements.

Would it be easier/better to make this a part of the search syntax instead? 'Find profiles into me' or something similar seems like it could slot into the existing system fairly smoothly without any extra side-bars or the like.

It most likely won't be a side bar or something, just another section. Or potentially even another tab under profiles called matchmaking (or something).

I could get behind another tab just for that. The side bar idea was ill-thought originally, since that would break the site's feel a little, and perhaps break the site in general for mobile users, or users with small screens in general.

Users on mobile usually get the side bar stacked beneath whatever main content they're viewing, so that is not such a bad situation.
