Feedback ยท Make empty 'mine' tabs friendlier (in profiles and roleplay) (accepted)

When you click profiles or roleplay at the top, and you end up at an empty mine page, it should present some clear options about where to go next. This should make it more comfortable for new visitors, who might otherwise be weirded out by the empty page, and never try clicking recent.

This suggestion before being edited:

When you click profiles or roleplay at the top, should it immediately jump to recent tab when mine is empty?

I bring this up in large part because Roel mentioned earlier, about giving people the sense that the site is active, and I very strongly agree with that. I imagine new people to >the site might click those and feel bad about the site when they get empty results. More about first impressions.

There could be other ideas to help with this too!

To clarify my thoughts a bit further - if there's a risk that people don't click "recent" to see what's in them, this would take that risk away, and possibly help them feel positive about getting involved with the site.

I haven't thought about that, but it makes a lot of sense - one, it is intuitive to have something shown and two, what was said in the proposition itself.
It is kind of catering to lazy/whiney people, but we all know they are needed too. For numbers and activity, at least.

So I'm not a huge fan of redirect loops. I would prefer to do what dragon says or have some other kind of call to action:

You don't have any roleplays yet! :(
Why don't you create one (link) or start a chat with someone? (link)

That makes sense to me - in fact, something like that could be better particularly for someone new to the site. I like the idea of presenting options, and also making it crystal clear where all the activity is.

I keep thinking that it might be very important to make sure that the person knows there's lots of good stuff behind the recent tab in particular. I really wonder if people might miss that.

Anyway! I'm going to rename this suggestion to something else, since it's not going to be about redirecting to the recent tab.
