Feedback ยท Variable contrast on colors? (accepted)

I joined a couple of days ago, and when I was making my profile, I wanted to use 'Dark' with the 'Green' color. But, I have sensitive eyes, as I'm sure several people do, so the brilliance of that shade of green hurt. I'd like to suggest having a darker analogue to the colors available for those with photosensitive eyes. Example, since we have a sort of lime green already, how about a hunter green for the darker version? Or a muted pink, as an alternative to the hot pink?

This is an interesting solution to the problem of being wanting various contrasts with their themes that suits them.

I would back this, heavily.

The human eye is most sensitive in the green range and less sensitive out toward blue and red. Significantly so. Like multiple times more sensitive than pure blue or red. I could definitely see needing to tone down the green on the black background. Do the themes just mix the same green tone with all background options, or is the foreground tone dependent on the chosen background? I would definitely prefer darker blacks on the default Light tone, where you can get away with softer grays on a pure white background. Conversely, the green you use for the Black background could be toned down from the sharper green that needs to be used on the White background.

Anne, before recent changes they used all roughly the same brightness and saturation, just hue rotated around. Now after a recent update, they have more specific optimizations to each to make them a bit more easy on the eyes and offer around the same amount of contrast.

Still, some people preferred the really .. um, hot, colors, so even just another dropdown that says something like "vibrant" or "subdued" would work here.
