Whilst typing in a search query, if I pause for half a second, the input box will lose focus briefly, then regain focus.
This isn't particularly noticeable on a desktop machine. On a phone, though, it's really noticeable — the on-screen keyboard disappears, and I'm prevented from typing altogether for a second or two whilst something happens and I'm given focus back.
That makes typing anything in take quite a while!

It does this because the input box is actually disabling, to signal that the search has been sent and any further typing is not relevant
It may just be better to disable the auto-sending on phones entirely, as it'll almost certainly be too eager and just end up annoying you.
Yeah, it is eager enough it'll run a search halfway through most words when I'm typing my fastest, and between each word if I'm swiping. (And I like to think I'm a decently fast phone typist!)

Because of FF disabling me disabling the backspace to go back shortcut I'm going to disable the disabling of the text box disabling. Disable. This will disable this problem among a few others.
