Feedback ยท None/Male/Small breast size concatenation. (awaiting endorsement)

According to chatroom discussion, there's some issues regarding who is using which tag, thanks to how close they are to one another. I think that this would work better if we removed the 'none' trait that male characters tend towards using in favour of redefining flat to include the lizards/etc that feel they aren't covered by it now.

  • Male - A character with an identifiably male chest of any size.
  • Flat - A character with a feminine chest which does not include any notable breast tissue

This way, male chests are likely to be defined properly, rather than 'none', feminine males/lizards/etc are included and those who want to search for this aesthetic don't need to use two different tags.

This discussion basically boils down to:

Do we need to make a distinction for people who have little female mammary tissue versus no female mammary tissue?

Hmmm... renaming to "chest" might work.

I think in terms of 'non-mammalian chest' the majority of people would use the species that they're looking for rather than whatever we wind up using for 'no breasts'. Looking for a species of reptile just seems like the more likely option.

As for chest vs breasts, it might work but it makes the sub-categories really awkward. Either you wind up with two separate paths for different female vs. male chest sizes, or people will need to add on gender when they want to search for 'large chest' or something similar, which is probably more trouble than its worth. Guys are free to have whatever chest-size they want, of course, but I can't imagine enough people wanting to search specifically by peck-size to add that level of confusion.

That said, maybe it'd be worth adding a trait or a sub-entry to 'body build' that addresses the highly muscular instead? I think most people that would be wanting to advertise just how big their pecs are would fall under 'highly muscular' or something similar anyways.

Maybe it's just personal bias, but I imagine far fewer people searching female profile with species of dragon that are looking for no breasts than I imagine people searching profiles with large chest/breasts and expecting female/feminine characters to come up. If I were to say that someone had 'a large chest' the mind automatically goes to breasts over pecks, and equating the two in our search function just seems like it would cause confusion to me. Yes, it's easy to add female profile with large chest, I admit, but by the same token it's also just as easy to search female profile with species of dragon, chest size of flat, and I think that keeping 'breasts' a feminine thing would reduce the overall amount of second guessing and keep things clearer, especially since (with proper musculature tags) searching for different male chest sizes will probably be handled with different tags.

I can't imagine someone searching for male profiles with average chest. For example, because on male profiles the chest/musculature tends to be something consistent over the entire body. Average pecs means average musculature. Massive pecs means a Mr. Olympia contestant. The only reason to have a chest search separate from muscles for male chests is someone that wants just pecs that are out of line with the rest of the body, and that's probably a fairly niche case.

I am unblocking this now that the discussion has died down. I will need to see community support to make a meaningful call on this either way though.

I think we need 'male' to differentiate between males who have actual female breasts, regular male, and creatures that have no mammary glands or nipples at all. Now that we have 'male', I think it is intuitive as to which one you should select. Perhaps changing 'none' to 'N/A' would make it even more intuitive. I would still keep 'flat' vs 'male' to signify the difference between male pecs and female 'flat' breasts, which aren't always the same form as say a 'flat' boy's chest, especially given that female nipples on a 'flat' female chest is a totally different look than a flat boys chest. Since I see the need for 'N/A' for reptilians, and 'male' for males, and 'flat' for flat-chested females, I guess I'm against this feedback? I think.
