Feedback ยท RP Notes (accepted)

A text box used for storing personal notes during the course of a RP. It would be useful to keep names, locations or other such concise data at hand while writing a story. Being able to maintain those notes on the site would allow one to not have to carry along other files, or go to other sites to access those notes, and it could be accessed via a drop-down box hidden such as the text into profiles, that way it does not get into anyone's way when Roleplaying. You just need to open it to see your notes, and then can close it again when done and starting to write. (Edited)

With perhaps an option of making the 'Notes' portion shared between all the players (that option is decided by the one who moderates the RP)

Might be more user friendly to just give people a private and shared notes, rather than make people worry about the pros and cons of making the RP's notes public or private. Give them both at once.

Good point.

We're not able to edit an RP's information when it's in progress? Or did we want a separate notes that's only available among an RP's current participants? In which case, I wasn't even aware we had a "participant" flag, just an indicator "that this person has posted here before. "

That could be really handy, especially for things like running online rpgs where you want to keep track of lots of things at once.

Wizard

Though, what exactly would this add that you wouldn't have from just linking google docs pages?

Well, there's something to be had in having everything related to the roleplay in one place.

Pascal

Being able to hold notes for bigger roleplays would be a useful tool. I'm in a roleplay with someone right now, and I made up names for people. But the posts are 4-5 paragraphs long each. As a fictional example, having to reread all the posts to try to find the name of a certain city's blacksmith really gets annoying! Having notes would really help with that. Jot down names, and maybe put personal notes as where you want the story to go. When I plan a RP, I usually have a few pointers to tell me "Where do I want this to go?" and then whatever happens is to lead towards that goal.

Anyways. As said, that would be useful. The way I'd see it... A dropdown at the top of the page that is <shrunk> by default not to get in the way. It reads :Notes: ...You can unfold it to view your notes and see what's there before making your post. That way, its not getting in the way of people when they don't need it.

Any better ideas?

Pascal

Only personal notes would be needed there by the way, as you can use the description of the RP for the more public notes.

I have edited the suggestion to display a more up-to-date idea after seeing several suggestions.

There's also something handy in not trusting Google.

Iris

I love this idea. My only suggestion is to have it as an expansion at the bottom, the same as the settings button and the character button, so you don't have to scroll back up to the top to see it.

Got something to say? Why don't you register and participate?
