Hmm. This seems to mostly about the knot, right? So why not call this knotting?

In my mind there is no difference between knotting and tying, but this is primarily concerned with the act of using the knot, so I would call this knotting first. I would associate knotting with this act first. Then again, both knotting and tying probably sound like they have something to do with rope to the uninitiated.

Well, they still have to be searched, and knotting (genital) is kind of awkward to type in that regard (at least compared to just knotting or tying).
