No, I'm not going to moderate series.
To be clear, I need to know all of the possible use cases for something before we go start adding features, or we will end up with conflicts of interests.
For example, in this very suggestion, we are saying we should probably be able to add plays we don't own. But, because we might do something weird on our own, we might end up putting someone in an icky place in a way they don't want to be shown. There has to be some kind of control about adding these plays you don't own in, because you're showing someone else's content in a way they might not approve of. So now we need permission.
... and if we need permission, we've totally killed the idea of trying to have a private collection of RPs that we can share with friends that happen to do something really well. What are the odds that 10 people and all of the 20 people they played with are going to be cool with all of your stuff being added, even if it's private? Not very high. Oops. Because this feature was designed to be used in another way, we've unintentionally made this other use case much more difficult to do.
Going a bit further, one of the ideas I have at the moment are to expand series with things like timelines. Those only make sense if the plays are related and contributing to a central plot. Otherwise it's totally useless! But series being used as a private collection is not anyone's radar when we're designing and talking about things like that because why would it be? No one has brought it up. There's other suggestions that I'm totally for that also don't make a lick of sense if plays aren't related, like being able to view all posts by a character to follow their progress through it.
So when we don't fully understand what we're doing, and just squint and say hey well this could be used for this too, we really run into an issue where features can conflict. If we had another concept of a curated collection, we could get around this issue, and perhaps explore the idea of presenting unrelated stories differently. And then suddenly, with something like that, we totally scratch the use you want out of series, without harming them, or without them harming you, in their use of series. And then we get those cool new thing that people can use that they might not use otherwise! How awesome is that.
