Feedback · Separate posts on the chat (implemented)

Right now roleplaying in chat/PM's is horrible because whether you and your partner write more than a paragragh, it's -very- hard to reread your posts because there are no 'line' between your partner's post and your character's. F-chat has a line to separate those and it was pretty good. I'd like something to be added because frankly as of how things are right now, it's confusing, and tiring to read.

I think there was a previous suggestion to simply add a bit larger space between different users posts, to make reading flow a bit more easily on the eyes.

Chat is for chat. If you make long posts in chat, you should promote that PM to a proper roleplay so you get all of the faculties there.

Yes, but it is not meaningful here. You can still have the full chat experience without the chat mode, and that is what you must do in order to get features like this.

Chat mode here is only for temporary things which you want to disappear after a little while. It is not meant to store anything longer-term, and will delete older posts as newer ones come in.

As I said. If you want it to be temporary, chat is fine, and the spacing of chat is not an issue then. If you want it to not be, then you should use the full roleplay mode, which gives you much better readibility for longer posts.

I wonder if the

function works in chat. That would divide posts manually.

I think that much of the issue behind this was discussed in chat. I would much appreciate if we could put points into this with the understanding that some people like the chat style of setting based rp and would like it to read more like standard rp.

Yasu Tsukuda

I think what he is trying to say is that many scenes based in chat happen live, in chat, and are then complete. They are not 'temporary' but are done, start to finish, in a single chat/rp session.

Any line would likely be subtle, as we're talking about potentially 100 of them on the screen at once (which would be really distracting). But adding a line necessarily means you add more space, or you have text right up against those lines, which looks weird visually.

Yasu Tsukuda

I don't much care how F-list did things, but was thinking of the aesthetic in traditional rp where items are boxed. Though I imagine the line could be something thin and not not all the way across, something akin to the lone beneath the term endorsements. Or the line created with the three stars.

Something that will automatically and clearly separate one post from the next.

I tried a border and found it way distracting even with a few posts. I'll keep playing with this to see if just some spacing can do the trick.

Yasu Tsukuda

I think that just an automatic one line space between posts could do the trick.

I'm toying with this on the testing server. I have increased the spacing between posts on it there, and will continue to play with solutions.
