Yes, this is an issue, but it is a tricky one. Profile editing right now is based on the profile as a whole; to edit traits, you go to your traits. To edit preferences, you go to your preferences. To edit interests, you go to your interests. "Breaking" this link between where things are and how to edit them can cause serious issues with usability and discoverability, and would have to be done carefully.
My current plans are just to add little question marks to each of the "objectives" presented to you in the profile editor. Clicking them, like the tutorials, will launch you on a guided tour of how to accomplish this particular objective. Since we might have more things in there later, that are not entirely intuitive, that seems like the most robust solution.
Later on, when profiles are more complicated, we might break out the editing mode so that you get tailored areas to do the particular profile editing functionality, but is no longer representiative of the profile. This of course would require a preview mode and lots of other things, so it is not a trivial thing to do.
