Going through and changing each one individually takes a lot of clicking, and it's incredibly rare that I put something there that needs the arrow.

Will likely be impacted in some way by add the same interest to multiple lists with different willing to take give settings (litphoria.com).

If it's in the NO column, then it should default to N/A.
Actually, I would like them all to default to N/A, personally.
(I'm thinking they should not default to the setting based on a profile's Top/Bottom/Switch Trait because currently the site has some odd giving/taking connotations.)

The Give/Take terminology is misleading with many interests.(To be clear, I know the proper selection for a Top is that they "Give" (send) things. )
I have all mine set to the site's defaults, but then I get someone saying,

"Dude, I don't think you're profile is set right... you're GIVING Deepthroat, Anal Sex, Ownership, etc... but you're supposed to be a Dom/Top!"

Seems like I should change to what sounds right in English, not stick to the site's version of 'Giving'.

I Dom/top would be giving deepthroat, and anal sex. I am less certain how ownership would fall on the give/take scale but 2/3rds of your issue seem to be a matter of someone misunderstanding the term.

A top would be giving these things, but it is usually seen as the submissive in the scene who gives deepthroat on someone.

Right, it doesn't sound right in English... versus a simplistic rule of Top 'gives' all things. Another is seeing a Top 'give' Domestic Service. Or Handjobs (at least for a Top heterosexual male). Granted N/A can be applied to just eliminate confusion, too... but that is my point above.

So for my profile as an example, after having purposely taken the time and set every Interest how I wanted them:
- 140 interests selected, total
- 82/140 have N/A set as giving/taking on each.
- 42/140 have my Top/Switch/Bottom default set (Giving in my case)
- 14/140 have the default of Give AND Take set on them
- 2/140 have the reverse of my Top/Switch/Bottom default set (Taking in my case)
- Note that I just set some things like Deepthroat to N/A to avoid confusion. Don't really care if there is a giving/taking on it. Really, who uses it, once they understand the Traits of a char?

So, for me, best-simplest default at character creation is make every interest default to N/A.
(Only have to change 58/140 interests from the default to a different setting, instead of 126/140.)

The next best-simplest default when selecting interests is to make each default to match the Top/Switch/Bottom Trait of my profile, AND to make the NO column all default to N/A. (Then I would have to edit only 81/140, instead of 126/140.)

The best solution would be to pre-assign a default of N/A to any Interest that is not really a Giving/Taking interest, AND assign a default to the remaining Interests that matches the Top/Switch/Bottom Trait of the profile, AND make the NO column all default to N/A. That has a chance at being far less than 58 edits out of 140 interests, possibly.
