Feedback ยท Post as GM (needs discussion)

So, we have a button to post OOC, and a button to post IC. But for those RPs that gets bigger, where there is an appointed Game Master, that is an option that could be shown. The RP Creator can appoint someone (or himself, default) as a Game Master, and that one has a 3rd button that appears, "Post as GM". The one with the Post as GM gets a better visibility over the others (Different color scheme?) to draw the attention of people. In RPs with 5-6 people, and a GM, its easy to lose the post of the guy that decides everything. Dice Rolls made by the GM are also hidden from the others. So only the GM knows what he rolled for some 'secrecy factors' that help keep the other players on their toes.

Edit: One change I thought. the default could instead be <none> to make the GM system Optional.

I would not want GM dice rolls to always be hidden - there are games which depend on the rolls being public, or flat-out just have no need for hiding rolls. In the remainder, hiding rolls is more often than not a game style choice, with totally public rolls also being one.

What would be the purpose or value in distinguishing one character as a GM in a roleplay?

Usually, the GM is the one who controls the monsters and/or NPCs, the setting, and helps keep the plot on track. They can have a vital role in group RPs.

I'm just not sure what the value is in having the site distinguish that since ... you can do that already without this.

I think the point was to give the GM's posts more visibility over others because they set up events outside of player actions which everyone needs to be aware of more than the actions of other players. It's not huge difference and honestly not a big deal, but some players might prefer to have the GMs posts highlighted.

Toggle to highlight specific player's/character's posts maybe within RP, so you can choose the GM for it, maybe? You could easily have separate character set up as GM for that too, just silly to have a character for it considering it would be empty profile.

Also, hidden dice rolls for GMs is good, but they should have option of public dice roll for transparency. Not all GMs want all their rolls secret, and some might prefer them all to be public.

I don't think it's really necessary. You can highlight your posts with markdown if need be, What would be good perhaps is more ways to highlight them. Like using colors.

As for hidden dice rolls, well, you can just roll them by yourself. Using random.org or physical dice or anything else. I don't really see the point, especially when dice currently are rolled after posting.

I'm just saying on a practical level. How big would an RP have to be before you forgot who the GM was for the play? I could maybe see always highlighting their posts, but a separate "post as" option doesn't sound like it'd be all that useful.
