I don't think I've ever heard this term refer to this group?
I've heard of it used as in-universe slurs for such characters, but I don't think it's common. I'd go with Goblinoids personally.
I agree with Keta, it's a fictional slur, but you know idiots will argue it means it'll be okay to use real-life slurs, and it's best to cut that off in the pass.
Warhammer 40K has "orkoid" in place of this and there it functions as a scientific term, given that orks and related come from different planet. Never heard 'goblinoid' to be used myself.
