Do you have something in mind? These other
categories can discourage people from actually listing a more niche one.
Since my character is effectively a plant monster I wanted to suggest this. There is not plant/dirt/tentacle monster skin type, and rather than suggesting that, I thought to offer up a catch all for other odd types.
I could potentially see, rather than other either monstrous and/or alien, to define creatures that do not have standard types of fur, skin, or flesh.
Specificness is a virtue here though, because people can't search for plant-types with a catch-all, they get loads of stuff.
Would a 'Plant' skin type work well for you?
I would not mind a plant skin type, I was just concerned that it would not really be used by anyone other than me. I thought that if I suggested that it would be turned down as something that no one else would ever search or use.
That's a fair enough concern, but it's worth trying anyway! Plant people aren't common (sadly) but I doubt you will stay as the only one using this.
This also brought to mind suggesting a Flora species
That is a lovely suggestion. In the case of my character, he is a parasitic alien who happens to take on a plant like form. If you got down to the nitty gritty, his 'flesh' is actually a walky hilltop covered in tries and vines, small animals, rocks and dirt. Though if I had to offer a single category, it would be a skin type of plant.
It is definitely difficult to assign a skin type to a small living ecosystem. :D
*nods * thus the concept of other, because my oddity of a monster does not fit many standards.
Got something to say?
