Also to pre-empt suggestions about that use of "octopuses" - it's a correct plural! It isn't "octopi" because it's not a Latin word. (It's Greek, so really it's octopodes, but that would be overly pedantic to use here.)
octopi octopuses (grammarist.com) A lot of correct words started out as misnomers. That said, lovely suggestion over all.

Also this is pretty annoying to type, would squid work as shorthand?
It wouldn't work as shorthand for octopuses and cuttlefish so it shouldn't be the name of this thing, if that's what you're asking.

All categories can have aliases so searching is easier, and cephalopod is something I don't see a lot of people typing in by hand.
Then yes that would be a great alias. Squid and octopus, and if you want to be thorough, nautilus and cuttlefish.
