Feedback ยท Moving the In session to the bottom of the page. (implemented)

I would like this to be done so i can see who is connected to a certain chat channel without scrolling to the top every time.

Roel

I am not entirely sure why nobody ever suggested that before, but I like this. Just put it below the input box, I suppose?
Not sure how it would work with auto-scrolling, that is probably the thing to figure.

Velus

This will probably need smaller icons or something.

So, this is how it was at first. And it was universally hated by everyone who used it, since it put distance between the input and the chat backlog. Even at the exact bottom it'll sit kind of awkwardly, especially in standard roleplays, where there will be a paginator presumably underneath it.

Roel

What about having it under the button? It would be just next to the settings button, and clicking it would show/collapse a section showcasing everybody connected. That way you can easily check and anybody who finds it obtrusive can just keep it hidden. And that button would be only for chats, so no need to change anything around normal plays.

Velus

Under the button still leaves a lot of clutter at the bottom which isn't entirely excused by being able to hide it -- that defeats the point, which is to have the thing in view.

Chat could use a side bar. Even a narrow one would be enough to display icons. As a bonus, we could put the room title in there to keep present what the room is. (Most of them look the same so it's not hard to lose track sometimes, especially if you have a bunch of tabs open.)

That sidebar could also present an inbox button.

For mobile users, whatever they get should be some kind of fly-out thing. It is not like phones have enough screen estate to keep a proper character list eternally visible unless it is tiny.

Nasus

I have to agree with this. Seeing as we have these very nice, large spaces to the side of chats/roleplays/etc. Why not use them? Put it off to the side, rather than underneath everything. Use those spaces, unless you wanna put advertisements there, to help fund the site. As for secondary placements...

I agree with Roel. Next to the Settings button. Or, hell, put it INSIDE the settings tab. Velus also has good ideas.

Lich Community Manager

With the newly released chat system, the user list is shown to the right when you've got it expanded, and is always within view. Marking this as implemented.

Lich Community Manager

(It's not implemented exactly per the suggestion's request, but the same issues are solved.)
