Feedback ยท RP Bookmarks (needs discussion)

When you place bookmarks in a book, is to know where some content is. Being able to bookmark posts that you find an important turning point in a story, or something you would enjoy to reread, there is no such tool.

When a RP reaches a point that it spans 10s of pages, it might be difficult to find that part you really liked to reread. This post would be particularly useful for people who likes to reread smut scenes that they really enjoyed once they are complete.

The idea would be mostly to allow placing personal 'Chapters/bookmarks' into a long term roleplay to separate parts of it.

Say, after the introduction of the characters, there is an adventure, you could name that adventure "The delve into the Dark Dank Dungeon of Daily Dread" and a further adventure could be given other names, to quickly take you back to the start of those parts and better organize the story being built with your partner(s)

Being able to share your bookmarks with the other readers would also be a nifty tool, so it can be read in chapters like a fanfic/novella.

I believe the series is to 'link RPs together' ...my idea is to set chapters within the same RP.

Series can be either multiple chapters of the same roleplay, or lots of roleplays with a coherent setting/theme.

It sounds like this question is about being able to create a sort of table of contents within the one roleplay (as in: one roleplay ID, not one roleplay split across several distinct roleplay IDs).

Series would not apply in this case.

Well, to me, "separate parts of it" is exactly a reason to use a series.

Velus

Is there a mechanism to separate a roleplay that's already occurred within one ID, if in hindsight you realise it'd be useful to separate it out and distinguish certain parts as different chapters, and mark those chapters?

Roel

I could see it as being useful if I want to have my personal bookmarks like this is where character makes a promise, don't forget it or back tattoo detailed description and the like. I don't think it should be for chapters, instead it is better to flesh out Series as a feature and make the ability to cut roleplays into several for the sake of the series.

Pascal

@Roel This is exactly what I meant! Being able to have a set of 'bookmarks' into -1- roleplay, as reminders to parts of the scene. I usually run my RPs in a single stream, rather then make 8 RPs over a series. Being able to have a bit of a 'page' that shows links to important portions would be nice to have. Click on link, and it gives you the posts of where that bookmark begins, up to the point where the next one begins. Instead of being "Series" as with Novels. (Game of Thrones book 1, book 2, book 3) containing several stories, but each of those stories shown as 'chapters'

My previous example in game of thrones, Series is each books, while Chapters are parts into the same book that are used to differenciate portions of the story.... if it makes sense at all?

Roleplays in a single 'session' can get rather big. One of them right now is at around 10 pages, at what, 10 or 20 posts per page... it can be hard to find a specific scene into that specific RP, without it being broken into series.
