Feedback ยท Not all interests should have give or take (needs discussion)

automatic interest suggestion : 0 out of 50

Not all interests should have little "give or take" arrows and the default should be N/A. For many interests "give or take" makes no sense. For example: Consensual. You can only give consent and only if both chars give consent it is consensual.

Sex, Bonding, Consensual, Group sex, Romance, Story, Adventure, Casual sex, Drama, Incest, Outercourse, Realism, Survival, Unarmed combat, Unrealistic Melee, World building, Language barrier, Rivalry, should have no arrows, for Ageplay, Breast Enhancement, Rebellion , the meaning is unclear.

Outercourse - Take is who's taking it and give is who's performing it. Arrows work for it.
Survival, one participant could be surviving and the other not needing to (Take the Hunger Games. Players survive, the employees don't, but it's happening at the same time.)
The others on that list, I see the arrows and somewhat uneeded, but no need to special-case it, just manually set to give&take or N/A

As for the unclear ones, taking ageplay is meaning the other person would act younger, give is you act younger.
Breast Enhancement, that is a bit more unclear. I'd presume it would mean that taking is that your breasts are enhanced, so giving should be you are the enhancer, or that your partner is being enhanced? Second might just be N/A.
Rebellion is also clear. Taking rebellion means someone is rebelling against you, giving is that you are the one that's rebelling.

Just my few cents.

Nobody's giving or receiving in that scenario though. (How can you receive survival? Or give it, unless you're a medic.) Survival is what we've been identifying as a theme in feedback discussions, something that nobody does, just an ambient presence in the roleplay.

Horen Teyro

Fair enough, but in that scenario one is receiving survival, the one doing the surviving, and the other is giving it. Doesn't apply really in many other situations though.

Well the idea of this suggestion was to make it easier to fill out the profile. Sure I can set the interests manually to N/A but it takes time.

Satsuki Kiryuuin

I find that fair, and would in fact be happy with just removing the give/take options altogether for the interests where they don't make sense, rather than just setting them to N/A. But I think that's already somewhere in feedback.

Satsuki Kiryuuin

I could not find that exact thing, but the roleplay themes (litphoria.com) feedback suggests acknowledging the theme interests as being their own thing and removing give/take from them.

Desdemona Fireheart

I think changing the default to N/A is the more important part of my suggestion. I can not know which Interests you have set deliberately to "give or take" . Maybe all of them, maybe just your core interests, maybe none of them.

(some of the stuff is odd of course; such as oral sex defaulting to give when a character is set as top)

It makes sense if you think about it in a penetrative sense, the 'giver' is the one putting a schlong inside someone. Doesn't make as much sense in other cases though. There is ambiguity in this one.

When a character is a top, everything defaults to Give since tops give everything, while bottoms take. Oral sex, it's reversed in our minds (A top would take that) but technically it's role reversal, the top becoming a bottom here. (This was explained to me in a very early feedback I had posted by WA).
As for those interests that become themes, that would solve the problem here too.

Desdemona Fireheart

I don't think it would be a good idea to add a second (un)willing arrow. I think that more interests instead like oral sex (giving) and oral sex (receiving) would be better.

There could be three buttons at the character creation: [Oral sex receiving][Oral sex][Oral sex giving] and if I click one the other two buttons disappear. Three different interests instead of one interest with three different arrows could have advantages like better searchability. There could be the possibilty to set both of them, giving and receiving, to express preferences, like giving blowjob as core and receiving just as 'will try' for a submissve gay male for example.

You dislike buttons I dislike little pull down menu's. :)
