Duplicate of Eye color unless the 'type' part is meant to be different, and probably shares the same issues.

That's true. In the grand scheme of things it's not something that really impacts it, I was just pointing out a trait field that I didn't see, not really as a searching trait, but just something to have on there. Type refers to mostly iris shape, serpentine, etc. But can refer to other things I suppose. Ah well, worth a shot. Thank you for the feedback!

Well the entire problem is that Traits are not there to just be and put stuff there. They are meant for things that are actually something that somebody would search for on usefully regular basis. Really. Too many traits achieves nothing aside from making it a chore to people to fill the profile and preferences. It already takes quite some time.

Osmond Gardener

That's true, but really it's more of a preference. I actually enjoyed it, I love character building, and having a nice clean format like that is really good. I like character sheets to fill out, and stuff like that, instead of having a massive bio with description in awkward format. I think it doubles as something to search for, but the real appeal is character-building and organization. At lest for me, anyway.

Roel

You enjoy it, but not everybody does. And the problem is, every time we make something a Trait it starts to feel somewhat mandatory to fill out. Because it is in the system, yes? And if somebody doesn't enjoy filling out a big questionnaire, that creates a bad experience for them. This is why I personally try to advocate for the least possible amount of Traits.

Osmond Gardener

Perhaps some sort of choice beforehand is an order? To accommodate both those that wish to build like me, and those that wish to write their own? Some sort of format choice while you make your character. "Character Sheet Format" or "Biography Format/Freeform Format" sound good? Choose Character Sheet for expanded and comprehensive traits, choose Freeform for minimal/search-friendly traits?

Desdemona Fireheart

I removed the less important stuff like hair color from my profile, to improve the readability. I have a picture of my char which shows the hair color. I think the format choice is a good idea. Maybe if I choose freeform, the not so important traits are shown on a second page. A compromise between readability and searchability.

Got something to say? Why don't you register and participate?
