Feedback ยท Show me as online recently if I'm connected to a chat or roleplay. (accepted)

So, the online friends thing in the header: I'll take a guess at its intentions. In the best case, it should allow me to see friends presently paying some vague attention to the site, who I could have a hope of contacting and them seeing it soon or immediately, right?

If I have my facts straight, it will show me there if in the last 15 minutes I've sent a message in a RP or chat, or loaded a page. (That gives it a 15 minute margin of error, which is ok.)

However, very often, I'll be here and completely available, but chats will be inactive so I will have nothing to say, and I'll have no pages to visit. I'll be completely available for contact! But I won't show up as an active friend.

Please show me as an active user in the friend list if I'm connected to a chat or roleplay!

If I haven't posted a message or loaded a page in the last 15 minutes, fade out my icon or do something else to indicate as much, but still show me as there!

There's a 1028 character limit for feedback now. To deal with a last point that may come up:

Some people leave themselves perpetually connected to a chat, and are here even when they're sleeping. Others will only be here when they're actually awake and paying attention. Some people will be here but might step out for breaks or chores or a meal from time to time. Since this is my friends list, and my friends, I'll learn case by case what their activity means. I'll learn the ones who leave it on overnight might not be here if they're faded out, but others will be here.

It should already be doing this. Might have broken at some point, but chat activity is considered profile activity, which should bump up your ads and your "online recently" presence. However, it is rate-limited, so that someone sitting there and spamming a chat won't always appear at the top of lists, to give other people a chance to be at the top of those lists.

I will take a look and see if something has happened to the activity-updating logic.

This isn't a request for chat activity to count as online activity - it's a request for being present in a chat to pin me as present in the "friends online now" list in the expanded site header, even if I haven't sent a message in the last hour.

I spend most of my time here just present in main chat, and that spends a lot of its time inactive. I'd like my friends to know I'm here even if I've got nothing to say right now.

For friends, I agree, being connected to something with a certain profile/character on the site should update your "online now" status to that profile's friends, but it is actually kind of good to be able to be in a private PM/RP, and not show as online in general to the public. If you want to override that and get your ad showing in the recently online ad list despite not showing as online otherwise, then set your LFRP, or connect to a public RP/Chat, and either of those actions would show you as "online now" to the public. So basically, you can control which profiles show as online to the public where you could be online in a private RP with one profile, and wanting another profile to show as online so that its ad shows up.
