Feedback ยท Show avatars next to roleplay posts (implemented)

master of 1 children

I think it'd be visually helpful if avatars were shown beside posts in forum-style roleplays. When everything is just text, and in particular, larger amounts of text. it's not easy to discern who's saying or doing what without looking a little closer.

However, because it's easy for people to create associations with images without looking directly at them, displaying a character's image beside posts would make it easy to see who's made it.

I imagine this is why actual forums have this feature as well. Avatar association is a readability lifesaver, really. At first, I actually thought an avatar was missing from the left (or right) when the margins on posts viewed on a larger monitor created such a big space. Here's an image of what I mean.

Show tiny avatars before names in chat

I'd enjoy this! I'm a person who's always better off with an icon to see. The difference in colour between avatars will often have immediate palpable results for me.

I intentionally avoided adding images to keep the view very simple and to focus on the text, since it is, after all, the most important piece.

With the new updates to the roleplay UI this might become a toggleable feature.

The text is definitely the most important bit, but the visual icon is an awesome visual aid for telling whose the text is. There's room for it in desktop and mobile view: put one if the standard narrow avatar formats to the left of the character's name.

This is on the testing server in a first-phase toggleable feature. Right now, it is limited to one size, and displays a little rectangular "eyecon" to the left of posts names.
