Yep, I get this and so do some others. In particular the notification says you got a new message from yourself.
I sent a character a friend request and immediately got a notification saying "Kanaya Maryam wants to be friends with (other character)!".
So uh, we're getting notifications the other people should get from those actions in profiles.
