related to Timestamps don't determine which day is "today" accurately

The following exchange is currently showing up in Inspiration Station's chat for me:

Sun, 8:48 AM · (ooc) · The Mood is Write: Nope nope nope.
2:16 PM · (ooc) · Minnie Mouse: Nope?
3:18 PM · (ooc) · The Mood is Write: Nope indeed. Hi!

Today is Monday 1pm where I live (UTC+10). You might see the problem: a 2pm and 3pm post couldn't have happened today.

The first post is saying it is from Sunday, but the next two posts aren't. For all intents they look like they would have happened today.

The downloaded transcript shows the following times:

The Mood is Write (4/16/2016 10:48:23 PM)
Nope nope nope.

Minnie Mouse (4/17/2016 4:16:19 AM)
Nope?

The Mood is Write (4/17/2016 5:18:32 AM)
Nope indeed. Hi!

I assume that's UTC+0 in the timestamps? Today is Monday 18th. Those messages in UTC+10 are Sunday 17th at 8:48am, 2:16pm and 3:18pm, so the times are right at least. Just not the day. Has this got anything to do with the days being different in UTC+0?

It's now 1:28pm here.

My suspicion is that around 2:16pm, Minnie's message will start showing up as from Sunday, but the 3pm one won't yet.

Just to see if it might provide a hint, I set my time zone forward to UTC+11 (Solomon Island) but the timestamps didn't change at all. I then set it way back to UTC-10 (Hawaii) where it's 5:28pm, and nothing changed either. I think the relative timestamps might be determined using my device's time, without regard to my site timezone setting.

Samus

I set my device forward from UTC+10 to UTC+12 (Auckland) to see what would happen to the timestamps. They moved two hours forward (which is quite fine), but surprisingly the day indicator didn't change one bit:

Sun, 10:48 AM · (ooc) · The Mood is Write: Nope nope nope.
4:16 PM · (ooc) · Minnie Mouse: Nope?
5:18 PM · (ooc) · The Mood is Write: Nope indeed. Hi!

The same time shift doesn't occur if my device is set to UTC+10 but my site settings are to use UTC+12 (Auckland) time. At least now I'm sure the site is listening to my device rather than my account settings for the purpose of chat transcript.

Samus

It just reached 2:19pm my local time and as I suspected - phone and site both set to UTC+10 - the day ticked over for one of the messages but not both:

Sun, 8:48 AM · (ooc) · The Mood is Write: Nope nope nope.
Sun, 2:16 PM · (ooc) · Minnie Mouse: Nope?
3:18 PM · (ooc) · The Mood is Write: Nope indeed. Hi!

The time thing seems to be only marking the day if it was >24 hours ago. It should be marking it if it wasn't today.

(Not sure why this didn't happen from adjusting my site or phone time zone but I never tried both at once or restarted my browser so whatever.)

Samus

5pm, and all messages are now being shown with the "Sun" prefix. Definitely a 24 hour thing.
