Feedback ยท Add support for locked chat channels with public facing application instructions. (accepted)

I've begun making more and more chat channels for various purposes and it has recently come to my attention that rooms where you want to restrict access no longer show up at all.

I would like an additional display option for chat rps. We have public and private, but I request a third status of "by request only". This chat would display title, summary, and information on requesting access publicly without actually permitting view of the content of the rp. This would be particularly useful for any item to invite rp with particularly graphic, squickish content while still letting those interested discover it and request to join.

I think this would be excellent for a number of topics.

When you say "request to join", do you imagine the request waits on the room owner to approve/disapprove the request before the person's let in?

Astarte

That's what I'm envisioning yes, do you have other thoughts on that? I would hope in the future individuals could be 'promoted' to have similar mod type status for larger RPs / chatrooms as well to include these powers, but at the moment I was imagining it falling on the room creator.

Samus

Just wanted to clarify. That would be quite fine and useful.

A permissionless version would be a little bit like the age wall: "This channel might have extreme content. Are you sure you want to view it?" Click yes, view channel itself, get to pick a character. Appropriate for someone who thinks their channel might be extreme (e.g. any channel with the Death interest attached) but isn't interested in moderating who can participate. That might be a separate situation to yours though.

Astarte

Perhaps, I'd be fine with that too honestly.

Got something to say? Why don't you register and participate?
