Feedback ยท Some tweaks to the site (needs discussion)

1.) First off, I'd like to suggest the number of people currently online in a given channel already in this list here: main channel (litphoria.com) Bonus feature would be to be able to sort the channels by number of users online in them.

2.) A more sophisticated search function for profiles/traits/etc. So far, I can't see how I can search for profiles who are either masculine or feminine or any other search combination at the same time. So far, I can only tell how to search for EITHER masculine OR feminine profiles, but not both at the same time.

3.) One major improvement would be if the search results would particularly show users currently online that match your search, and maybe what channels they're on.

4.) Join and leave msgs appearing in the chat window for anybody leaving or joining the channel.

5.) People getting pinged or something like that whenever their nick is mentioned in a channel they're in.

6.) Another nice feature to have would be one I've seen on a similar site. It mainly appears when you're in a channel, and next to your nick in the nicklist, you can turn on a green light to tell people you're looking for an RP without saying a thing. An easier way to implement this would be to be simply able to change the font color of your nick in the nicklist to green. Bonus feature if there would be a status that you could even attach that would go beyond green light on/off, and that would be a sentence or two on what you're currently looking for scenario-wise or character-wise.

Some of these have been covered before, some haven't.

  1. I think you mean showing the number of connected characters in the list of chats, which is covered in show how many people are connected to a chat on the front page and the chat page (litphoria.com). We do have a user list already inside the chat itself which shows who's connected.
  2. Covered in Select more options when using search function (litphoria.com), which is accepted.
  3. Not suggested before as far as I'm aware. Search does already offer the capacity to filter by activity, see the bottom-most expander.
  4. We've covered join/leave notices. I can't find it in search right now. We decided they were not appropriate for this site, but they were only discussed in the context of the previous chat system.
  5. Covered in stalk words (litphoria.com).
  6. A "looking light", and the general idea of a "looking for roleplay" status, was discussed multiple times earlier on in the site, such as in online status (litphoria.com), and each one was rejected after consideration. They don't make much sense on Litphoria.

I recommend opening a new piece of feedback about #3. I will do so if you don't.

On point number 6, there really is a problem with finding who on the site is there just to hang around and who is actively looking for some play ASAP. Currently, the idea is to improve the ad/ideas system so that people can more easily broadcast their availability site wide rather than within a single chat and improving the search so that users can find those broadcasting.

As a note, it's best to separate or each suggestion into its own submission in my opinion. When you have a list of suggestions like this, once it hits the endorsement phase there's no way to indicate support for only part of the list.
