Currently when I flip my phone from portrait to landscape the chat logs increase from 50 old messages to 200+, and talking with WA that is expected behavior. I request that when it does this, it either maintains my place in the chat, or resets to the most recent message. Currently when I go to landscape it puts me somewhere in the middle of the log and I always have to scroll back to see the new messages.

It is based on screen width. The idea was to have smaller, less capable devices not need to power all 200 messages, since that might be too demanding. I can remove this limitation if it's not that useful.
I'm fine with the mobile displaying less messages. But it would be nice for the backlog to remember where it is when the size changes.
As samus said, I like the functionality. It means I don't have to scroll through a lot on my tiny phone unless I want to, but if I swap orientation I'd prefer the location I was at either stay remembered or it resets to latest messages.
