Variability in physical attributes (needs discussion)
A lot of my characters are 'modular' to some degree, and beyond it, I'm frequently just plain content with swapping out genitalia, gender, and other personal attributes if it suits a scenario better. I'd like my profiles and/or search tagging to reflect this; I'm not sure of the best way to implement it within the site's design principles, but the criteria that come to mind are:
- Ability to define a subset of physical attributes that I would be content swapping the character to.
- Ability to define a subset of physical attributes that I would -exclude- the character from swapping to (eg. 'any genital setup besides a lone penis'.)
- Ability to show up in search under the heading 'flexible', 'variable' or similar.
Incidentally this sort of a design might have some overlap with shapeshifter, depending on how in-depth y'all want to get with it as a system.

Having just made this character, I'd love this, since I'm kind of missing out on almost half of my character per the setup presented.
"flexibility" was intentionally not added to the system to avoid vagueness in profiles.
The current profile system already creates vagueness in profiles by a severe lack tags, many characters I've had to leave entire categories unfilled as literally no options fit. A huge amount of variables are completely unaccounted for, being able to add additional tags would make up at least some of it's shortcomings.
I get the aversion to shitter-tier hub profiles and 'lol i kin b anyfang u wan bb' crap, but at the same time, the tag selection is lacking where most solutions would call for some form of user created tags, a la boorus, imgur, and so forth. By averting the Anime Fuckfest Username, it also shoots the contemplative and thoughtful aliens, lycanthropes, robots, and so on, right in the tra-la-la and also their ding-ding-dong.
We have user-created tags, though. Very nearly everything in the system was user-suggested and then became part of the profile system. It's not free form for two reasons - we need some level of quality control, and we need to ensure that new profile options are correctly created. Just tagging, plain tagging, would work to describe only what something is, but not what it wants - half of the equation. We have tags organized in such a way that we can auto-generate the choices you can pick for preferences based on what has been suggested.

If this the problem, then surely the solution is to suggest more where you find inadequacies. This suggestion to add variability won't help with anything if there's still a lack of tags to pick from in the first place.
Sooo...maybe by first defining what something is, you can maybe allow people to look for things that are what they're looking for, and what they prefer? Also, quality control is a commendable goal, but it's obvious that it's limiting, puts people off, and the time taken between tag submission(which itself requires navigation and patience) and tag approval, means that you possibly lost that user.
I am in the process of making proposals for adding more tags, however, is it possible to submit multiple tags in a single post? I could be suggesting tags somewhere in the double digits range, around 10 -30
It's difficult with endorsement if you suggest two things at once.
If you don't submit them separately, they won't be able to be approved. Profile tag suggestions are automatic in a sense - when cleared up, they will get automatically added to the site's systems when endorsed enough.
