That second half of this description is difficult to parse. Did you mean to acknowledge that they're in a different universe but they're still mostly the same person?
they are still canon, just placed in a different scenario that is or may not be canon. I'm not sure how much more simpler I could make the description without just saying "oh they are in another universe but the same person" which is a very biased and not an appropriate way to describe what AU for canons is lol
But isn't that what an AU is? The same character, different universe. Not a difficult concept to explain, but would be an extremely welcome addition, as someone who plays dozens of AUs.
