Feedback ยท Profile Auto-Save Function (awaiting endorsement)

I've been dealing with Firefox crashes for a little while now. However, today, I experienced several in a row while attempting to fix it. While it was fixing itself, it crashed a few times, as well. During those times, I was working on a profile. Adjusting it, adding things, etc.

While it saved the entries I changed the first few times, it stopped doing so after the 3rd crash. I don't know if this is a bug in the Auto-Save function, or if there is an auto-save function at all... If there isn't one, perhaps that'd be a good idea, something to get around to applying to the site... Other than that, I just lost about... 3-4 hours of work on my profile.

While I'm irritable, I do know that it isn't actually the site's fault. I'm just voicing that I wished that there was an auto-save function, if there is one, that it didn't crap out on me.

If you're talking an actual save people will see if they visit my profile — those kinds of saves tend to only exist in editors that have an undo function, so we'd need one of those first. Right now if I make some big destructive change by accident, my respite is I can refresh without saving my changes... but an auto-save might make that mistake permanent.

However there's software like Microsoft Word which will back up my working copy. If there's a sudden crash, and I reopen Word, it'll offer to let me pick up where I left off on that working copy I hadn't actually saved yet. That's pretty cool, and still lets me discard all my working changes and go back to the last save. That doesn't need an undo button.

I'd prefer the second version since I might just be working on a WIP version I'll just discard later.

Maybe we'd also benefit from a "save & keep working" button, which I'll suggest separately so it doesn't consume this thread.

Sorry to hear you lost all that stuff by the way.
