Feedback ยท Underline (new)

I'm surprised that no one else asked for it so far... but how come there is no function to underline text? I admit that I know literally nothing about markdowns and the like, and I'm more used to using forum bbcode, but surely this can't be that difficult a feature to add?

Generally, I use underlines as part of profile formatting, as well as when I need to emphasize certain things in RPs via a different method than italic or bold text. Often enough, I use the former for thoughts and/or telepathy when applicable and the later for powerful, echoing voices or bits of description that are of major importance. Underlines are generally used for less important, but still beyond common emphasis, or in dialog to help signify an uncommon language or method of communication if something of the sort was established beforehand and occurs often enough to be clunky to add descriptors around.

Overall, there are a lot of potential reasons to add Underlined text to the available formatting here.

It's a moot point anyway until someone involved in the site's development actually takes a look at this and throws in their thoughts on the matter. I have no doubt that there is a way to implement the feature... however, depending on how the site was designed, it's debatable if it'll be worth the effort or not. I also have no idea how much of a backlog they have to go through to even see this particular suggestion. The fact that it's been here for a whole week already is... not encouraging.

If the stars align correctly, that might be me, so.

I'd go as far as saying if you're concerned with the bugtracker's prioritization, file a ticket and it can be discussed there. Please do not bury an unrelated ticket in general complaints about the site, whether you feel you are justified or not.

My thoughts, as I've already outlined, are that this should, I think, be doable. For a webapp CSS is the obvious choice and provides an easy implementation vector.

Irrethrenus

I see.

It's not prioritization that I'm worried about really, not for the moment. This is a suggestion more than a bug, and I haven't crawled through all the suggestions out there to see how many others are more important in the long run. However, I did do some looking, and there's several things that have been open since august last year that haven't even been glanced at. The fact that suggestions that old haven't been cleared or not is worrying, as it implies that the management is either having a huge amount of trouble keeping up with all that they're receiving... or that they're simply not trying anymore.

No matter how you look at things, it doesn't really look good. The fact that the last bit of news on the site was ages ago tends to speak for itself too... and not in the good way.

I understand and you have somethinga of a point. Insofar as this does not directly bear upon the implementation of specifically an underline feature, however, please discuss this in a separate ticket thread. You can file one here.
