Text limit on profile text boxes. (new)
To have a word limit on a writing website, let alone a limit as short as Litphoria has, strikes me as absolutely absurd. As far as I can see, there's no point, no sense to it. All I can really do is stress that point - there's little more to be said, because who would expect to have to justify something so sensible?
To the devs that are still hanging around Litphoria: For the love of everybody on this site, increase that word limit!

Just how many words are you attempting to cram into your profile? I haven't done an exact word count, but I'd like to think that the tidbit I have on mine would be more than enough to overflow a 'short' word count.
Thanks for the reply, Watts. You're quite right! Funnily enough, that text field you've flogged is the only one I found without a word limit (and, naturally, the only one I forgot to test). Those under the Interests and Traits sections certainly have it, maxed at under 2000 characters. That's the size of my average RP post! I struggle to understand the purpose of that, let alone justify it.
And, correct my design principals if I'm wrong; but shouldn't the primary body of profile text be put at the top, and not the bottom? I understand getting the details out of the way first, but that's not enough of an excuse to sate me. I have the vague feeling that a lot of these kind of design choices were made to help distinguish Litphoria from F-list, for better or worse.
Well, when compared to F-list you have to consider a few things. The first is that while F-list allows customs, (in my experience) the text limit isn't that great either. This isn't or shouldn't be a huge issue though, because no one is necessarily going to read a kink that has been filled out with a post worth of description. They want something short and sweet more often than not. Beyond that, I feel like the decision to put the smaller text box at the top of the page has two purposes: a. it's a description of your profile in the purest sense, and should be used to draw people in at a glance; b. it serves to allow people the opportunity to get into some of the more prominent parts of your profile (kinks, traits, interests) before they decide that they want to read mountains of text regarding the character itself. Because for the most part people want to know that they're compatible with someone else before they take that dive... At least in my experience.
As it stands, I don't personally think that the text limits that are in place are an issue. You just need to utilize your 'real estate' correctly. In closing I do want to say: I think that if there were no text limits on profiles for a majority of the fields, we might end up with profiles that are megabytes or (seemingly impossibly so) they may become gigabytes large, and take more space on the servers than they need to. In limiting everything to a lower potential threshold, we're accommodating a potentially larger community without the need for any upgrading/maintenance, at least at this point, and that just seems like good housekeeping.
That's my two cents anyway.
I’m not sure text takes up as much storage as you think it does, Alli, but thanks for the thoughts.
