I keep trying to message people and I get the same thing every single time : “CONNECTING” it takes FOREVER - never loads - it’s annoying , I try reloading , closing the site , going on YouTube for a few minutes to let it load , nothing !!!

I'm currently having this issue as well, have tried updating profiles and even changing active profile.
This keeps happening to me too!! Nothing I've tried has worked, and it's super frustrating!
This happened to me as well. I went to my profile, clicked "edit" and then clicked "save" and then went back to the conversation and it wound up working. Not sure if it's a fix / workaround, or coincidence.

i clear my cache for the site and then re login, and that always fixes it
