While I personally don't care if I see them all in one place, I'm sure there is a healthy mix of people who like smut, and don't like smut, and those people who feel strongly either way should have a way of filtering NSFW roleplays in or out.

Are you intending to strictly scope this to SFW/NSFW? Adding SFW/NSFW is definitely possible but any level of categorization past that I think would be better suited by the interests, canon, and characters involved.
The main application would be to filter between SFW and NSFW. I left it open ended in this initial writeup in case further categorization was something people wanted. The only further categorization I can think of would be maybe by setting (Fantasy, Scifi, etc.).

I have edited this to match, then.
For settings, I plan on using the involved characters and canon to determine that. If all of the characters are in a "fantasy" setting it's a pretty good chance the roleplay will be as well, without needing for the user to manually determine that. That might change some point, but that is the current plan - the only thing the user will have to manually specify is which interests apply to the play, and if it will be SFW or not.
Works for me!

A thought does occur regarding this. Things may be NSFW that are not sexual.
I always have a hard time trying to categorize what is NSFW and what is SFW because those phrases are pretty vague to me. NSFW can imply fetish/kink things, violence... really anything that's not considered appropriate. I know I'm not the only one that's confused about this terminology either. If we're intending these filters to be used for sex specifically maybe better terminology can be used...? Maybe have an Adult flag for roleplays so that people can hide/block all adult roleplays when searching and browsing?

We have the same issue with calling something "adult" though, at least in English. If you were to call a story "an adult, grown-up story" you would not be implying it is necessarily sexual, just that it deals with mature subject matter. If we were to intent to label something as sexual, we might as well just cut out the middle man and call it "sexual".

I think the best approach to this is probably just to tag something as "sexual" or not and avoid needing to elaborate why something is "NSFW". Past that, you could filter/blacklist off of interests, so if you didn't like other kinds of NSFW things, like extreme violence/gore, you could not see that.
Got something to say?
