On feedback, roleplays, etc. — allow users to edit their own already-posted messages.
In roleplays, it might be pertinent to also add an indicator to other connected users that the post is in edit mode (to avoid posting too quickly to something that's in revision).

This will be suited by allow hide/deletion of posts; and edit is not desirable for several reasons. Instead, I'd encourage you to double-check your posts, and if you absolutely have to change it, that suggestion will allow you to hide it and repost correctly.
Yeah, isn't strictly speaking a dupe, which is why I didn't out-right close it without commenting on why I consider this handled by something else.
