While litphoria is still in this alpha state, it's mostly a ghost town rather than a place to hang out. Now that all these new features have implemented, it seems like it's ready to go live, so to speak. I think it'd help if it had a primary chat room. It could have its own button at the top next to inbox/profiles/etc, and would take users to a normal chatroom that just has the designation of being the main chat.
It'd just give a nice place for new people to see that the site isn't empty, get quick answers, and make quick connections with other people who are online. As the site grows, it could probably be phased out or evolve into something else.

I'm not super groovy on the idea of encouraging one set of things to be the official normal channels, particularly when it'd create another "frontpage" style nonsense channel.
Though you're right about the site's features by now. I do plan on leaving alpha sometime soon .
Perhaps a 'Featured' RP that is called 'Live Help' ...basically, people post their question there, and whoever gets to answer first answers. That gives a seeming of life, while helping people out. I think that gets to solve both tiers' issue. I can understand why WA does not want a 'Primary Chat Channel' ...That would be stressful on the site, and require constant monitoring. Litphoria is meant to be simple, easy, friendly. Not sure having an actual chat would help any of that.
You could maybe add a way to 'feature' such RPs onto the site. Make them more prominent somehow. It is still to be discussed as to how that can happen, without being annoying, but those "Public Channels" being made more prominent would allow to create a few channels where people can discuss topics and feel 'active'. Now, how to implement that without adding any bulk is another story. Anyone has ideas, hm?
As part of some unrelated staged changes, there will be a link under help tab (the question mark at the top) to the 'live help channel'. I am not sure about "featuring" other such roleplays, but I've been toying with the idea of promoting roleplaying to a major navigation item at the top (probably to the right of profiles).
Then again, "featuring" roleplays (and maybe even profiles) would show the best the site has to offer for both, and encourage people to fill their profiles/roleplays out fully. Hmm.
'Profiles of the month' sorta deal! It gets featured for a while. People would be able to nominate a profile or something, so that great profiles, those with a lot of flesh and ideas, get more 'attention' ... Of course, someone always has the option to opt out for that, so that they don't get undue attention, but that would allow writers of great profiles to serve as a 'show' of the quality possible in the site!
True, true. WA doesn't need more work, he already has his hands full building the site (and probably having a LIFE around it, and whatnot) So Chatroom isn't a good idea. I do however really like your idea of showing Online Counts somewhere. People could also set themselves as 'Hidden' or 'Viewable' and the site has a page to display who is on a chat/has been active in the last 5 minutes or something. That shows how many people are around! and might promote activity. Yes?!?
This is kind of done. There's a chat link now in the header which links out to all of the "chats". featuring roleplays and chats is another, unrelated concept, that should be suggested and discussed separately.
Got something to say?
Why don't you register and participate?
Litphoria has a unique community feedback system, where the community decides what profile options are available, and what order new features are developed.
