Feedback ยท Roleplay Staging in Forum mode, OOC mode resets to IC (solved)

While posting in a Roleplay Staging in Forum mode, posting a response results in popping to the top of the page, and resetting the IC/OOC setting back to IC. In staging mode, shouldn't all posts be set to OOC, or at least the setting should retain its last setting across posts, like it does when posting in Chat mode in the actual RP while in progress. We often forgot to set OOC on staging posts, and thus the beginning of the RP chain has "IC" posts that are clearly not IC. We didn't quite get to test this, but if the Forum mode staging or RP goes to a second page, does it return to the bottom of the last page, or at least the top of the last page?

FYI: Chatting was far more enjoyable than Forum mode due to immediate feedback and appearance of responses, no popping back to top of page after posting, no need to continually set OOC when posting OOC.

BTW: Recommend that since the IC/OOC dropdown is really a simple toggle switch, and the site is supposed to be friendly to Mobile, why not simply have two Post buttons? A POST IC button that is highlighted, and a POST OOC button that is not highlighted. This cuts interaction to post down to one click, and for IC posts, might be triggered via the phone's pop up keyboards "GO" button as the default action. With the current scheme in Forum mode while staging, I would have to click to open the pull-down, click to select OOC, and then click on the POST button, for three clicks total for each post. I suggest this here because it is a solution to the above problem while also making interaction more streamlined.

Consideration: for chat channels, "enter" sends the message, and can only be bound to one of the two. It seems to me like it'd be easier to keep the state instead of making two buttons only for non-chat play.

That was my intent with making IC highlighted: to indicate it is the default action. On my text entry keyboard, there is an 'Enter' button separate from 'Return', and the 'Enter' button changes in context, from a magnifying glass if entering into search box, to a 'Next' button if entering in a Form box, to a 'Go' button if entering in a text box. So, that was what I was referring to.

For desktop, the POST IC could be the default action in chat mode, and POST OOC could be the default action in Staging mode. So hitting enter activates the default, and you would have to click on the other button to get the non-default post.

Certainly, making IC/OOC sticky in Forum mode, like it is in RP chat, would be a fix for the basic problem. It's still 3 clicks to switch back and forth though, so cutting to one would be nice, especially for those phone users. Stuff like this is another reason I don't use phones for this, though I have a large smart phone. The site is either an oversimplified mobile site, or it is a tiny button click fest. With a toggle button or radio button, it could be cut to two clicks. Also, regardless, it would be nice if the POST button indicated visually what will happen if you click it, by either saying POST IC or POST OOC, or changing to a different color when in OOC mode (if you stick with a single button). Even with my big phone, the keyboard obscures stuff, like what mode I am in, IC/OOC, and seeing the mode on the POST button would help.

Well, I was getting more at if you wanted to enter a string of OOC/IC stuff with chat, you'd have to consciously click the button every time instead of hitting enter. Whereas with it now, you just change it when you ... want to change it.

Basically, what we are saying with this change is that it is not likely for someone to want to do a lot of IC actions when the roleplay or chat is in staging mode, and that it is not likely for someone to want to do a lot of OOC actions when the roleplay or chat is in progress. That's not unreasonable to say, just definitely what the move to buttons would encourage.

Though there might be other convenience features it could do to help "adapt", for instance, always assuming a post starting with a * is IC, and always assuming a post starting with (( is OOC, regardless of other context (such as the roleplay status). Something like that would probably help to eliminate the need to constantly switch it around if you wanted to do a stream of OOC/IC.

Well, for me, on the desktop, I would use ( or (( to start an OOC, and then hitting POST would make it OOC. Starting without ( would make it IC. Maybe not my ideal method on a phone, but I personally don't care about using Litphoria on the phone for IC chat. It will be once in a blue moon at most.

BTW, this is an issue with Forum-mode only (not sure about connected Forum mode). Right now, selecting OOC in chat mode, and posting does not reset the OOC selector to IC.
