Feedback ยท Make more-obvious to which column the Giving-Taking symbols are referring (implemented)

Visible ownership of symbols is only lightly indicated by a column header line. The fact that the symbols are so closely located to the adjacent text in the column to the right makes them seem to be owned-by or referring to that column, not the column they are actually in.

  • Could be accomplished by more obvious column division
  • Could be improved by reducing the whitespace between the Interest and the symbol, while increasing the whitespace between the symbol and the text in the column to the right.
  • Could be accomplished by placing the symbol for an Interest just to the left of that interest.

I don't know. Does anyone else feel like this? I think it makes the most sense off to the right, like it does with traits.

If the columns were more rigidly obvious, then it would work, but the site uses whitespace itself, and then that leads the eye to make the wrong associations in this case were there is hardly any white space between the arrows and the items to the right of them, while having a massive amount of whitespace between the arrows and the items they are actually associated with. You get used to it, but so far, I start off making the wrong connections and it takes a few moments to realize my mistake.

This is going to change probably with profile comparison, but I am still unblocking this so people can show support if they feel strongly about this. No objections were raised.

This feedback originally said:

Move Giving/Taking Arrow symbol to the left of the column

With the symbol right justified in the column, it makes it look like it applies to the item in the column to the right. So moving the symbol to the left of the name seems to read better. (potentially inserted between the expansion arrow, and the Interest name.)

Edited to be more general:

With profile comparisons, I've significantly reduced the space between the symbols and what they are referring to for both traits and interests. They are still to the right of the interest though, I'm trying to keep stuff to the left of it as controls (e.g, if I click an icon to the left, it will do something).

Is this still an issue for you?

Anne Mayer

everything looks great to me, meets the more general suggestion I have changed this to.

I am marking this as implemented then.
