Feedback ยท Flesh out Series features: Description, Setting, Age-wall flag, better formatting on RP list. (accepted)

I was thinking it would be neat if the Series page was very similar to an RP staging page.

  • Description
  • Ad
  • Setting (to contain a description of the common or likely setting(s) of the series)
  • Parameters like setting the age-wall flag
  • Similar to the RP staging page, there would be a forum discussion section for staging new RPs in the series, discussing elements of the series, etc.

Why does the whole series need any of these? I can see the point for the setting, but the rest of it seems like it's better suited to staying with RPs, which already do this.

Actually, it doesn't need Setting either, to be accurate. It depends on how big a feature this is to be. Right now, Series aren't searchable, so the Ad line isn't useful, ATM. But to the degree that Setting is useful, then Description is just as useful, if not more so. Right now, you wouldn't really encounter Series except by already finding an RP, but if searchable, the age-wall comes into play. The staging style forum is useful for staging ideas in the series, but it is again not critical or necessary. However, it would be nice to have a connected discussion about the series that is always there for interested users to ask questions, give feedback, suggest new RPs for the series, and read these types of things from previous participants.

I'm not sure how it works with RPs that are in-progress (private or not), done, or published, but hopefully the Series page would have a list of completed, published RPs that are linked to that series as well.

A setting and description I can see being useful. A discussion page maybe. Searching and listing them is where you start to lose me though - why would you search a series? If you are looking for a play that has, for example, foot play in it, I don't know if people will want to get a bunch of other plays in the series which don't involve footplay for the one sex play in the middle of it.

The series are there to allow you to link together multiple plays.

Maybe they aren't searched. I don't have a critical need for that personally. An RP search would find the RPs, so I can't think of a need for it. If no searching, they don't need the Ad and probably not the age-wall thing either, then. Except maybe it is a mix of nonsexual and sexual RP allowing someone outside the wall to get to it, and then the description and Setting might really require it.

But, even if not searched, a Description field would be great.
