Result of talking about the issue of 'Stories' with WA and being on the camp that disliked making story/other texts as roleplays because it is not intuitive, I bring you this suggestion.
Lets have a 'Roleplay Creator' - after you hit 'create new' in 'roleplay', you are shown a page on which you choose from between options like:
Public chatroom
Roleplay
Story, background information and other literature
You choose one, hit 'next' and land on page that allows you to set interests and write a setting part, then Finish and we have roleplay with some pre-configs already set to fit what we chose. All of them editable later as they are now, of course, if you see the need.
Idea serves two purposes:
Trivializes creation for people who are unsure about all the settings (not expecting them to be many, but still) and allows for quicker creation
Communicates without any room for uncertainty that you can and should create any and all pieces of text related to world, character etc you have via Roleplay items. Thus sovles problem of people not expecting them to be done like this. And saves confusion that would come from introducing another type of Roleplay item

I'm all for this. I never had an issue with just using the role play functionality for stories myself, but this will help to make it clear for all users, which would be good.
4th option would probably be "create a roleplay ad/idea for one of my characters." (Which is a shortcut to the same thing you do via your profile page.)
Like it. Would like to see this same RP creator and end at the same result whether creating role play via New Role play, or via the role play idea section in your profile. In other words, get rid of the truncated editor in Profile, so that we don't have to go find the RP and complete the editing in a second step. Basically, I'm saying that if this gets implemented, use it in the Profile and the Role Play list both, as the New Role play creation scheme.

Right, I forgot about that one.

Mhm, too - I never made a RP from the profile page so omitted that function by accident.
Since WA needs to re-approve from 'New' state after every edit, I will wait a bit with adding both of these just to see if anybody points out another thing that would be good to have and then make an edit. Just to create less confusion.
Wrecked Avent has mentioned elsewhere that the "wizard" you go through to submit new Feedback is the model to be used elsewhere on the site. Having it for roleplay creation is natural.
Got something to say?
Why don't you register and participate?
Litphoria has a unique community feedback system, where the community decides what profile options are available, and what order new features are developed.
