Strikethrough, subscript and superscript can be utilized but need HTML tags to do so. I'd like to see these functions (and any other using HTML tags) included in the help files with examples so that more people are aware that they're an option.

Sounds good. I'd rename it to Formatting Help or Formatting & Markdown Help in this case, too.

We should also take the opportunity to improve the markdown guidance while we're at it. Lists and double spacing for paragraphs regularly trip up new markdown users, for example in this old feedback.
