Five long years have gone under Penelope's reign. Finishing the war that her father started, she had since taken in the losing realm into her own kingdom and a new golden age was known for but a very short time. The fires of the old war never died however, and those embers would catch within the capital city. As if overnight, the castle was under siege from the inside, guards killed by the dozens as they slept, others poisoned, and a Queen mysteriously vanishes into the night.
Though the first war was won, other kingdoms would not stand so idly by as Penelope regained her footing.. Though smaller in size and weaker of military, Penelope's Kingdom was already fractured from a long fought war that had claimed her father. Far to the north and east, new armies rose. And swords would soon clash once more on the bloody field.
From an early age, Penelope grew in a life of luxury. Born a princess, everything was provided and Penelope wanted for nothing. Hours of her day where filled with education, arts, and the never ending gossip of the court. Naive in her way of thinking, life was just one day to the next. Loved greatly by her brother and mother, her father was always distant, only more so as her mothers heath began to fail.
In her teens, Penelope’s mother died to an illness that quickly spread through the castle and land thereafter. Though few died of it, her mother was also claimed by the gods. Her father took both losses none too well and he quickly took his downward spiral. Rage and grief consumed her father. The result of a fractured king was war. With a singular purpose to work towards, for a time he regained his composure, long enough for Penelope to take on new training. How to lead a kingdom. Though the lessons where hard, they stuck and when the time her father died on the battle field, the crown would then pass down to Penelope.
Crowned at the age of Twenty. Penelope finished the war her father started and dissolved the losing kingdom into her own. As simply as that, new ports where opened up, trade routes established, guilds reformed, and new work for a growing empire. For years to come, Penelope would sit upon a throne of vipers, dodging assassination attempts as her kingdom blossomed. Though admit it she will not, the pain of losing her family and first hand the seeing the sights of war has left their mark on her.
